About Me

Troy Johnson
Troy Johnson arrived at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer in 1997 and served as the newspaper’s Auburn University beat writer before becoming the full-time sports columnist in 2003. In 2003, he was named the nation’s top sports columnist in the 40,000-100,000 circulation category by the Associated Press Sports Editors. He finished second in the category in 2005 and third in 2006, which he hopes is not evidence of a decline. He’s covered a little of everything over the years, including the Super Bowl, the Masters, the NCAA Final Four, the 1996 Olympics and the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where he found the taste of kangaroo steak to be surprisingly pleasant. He can’t say the same for vegemite, however.
